Welcome to Class 1 with Miss Taylor and Mrs Beeley.
Our new learning journey for this half term is ' World Kitchen'. We are all looking forward to this learning journey and it follow on from our fantastic learning surrounding Sherwood Forest and the legend of Robin Hood. We will be exploring different countries from around the world and exploring their cultures and foods.
The phonics test is fast approaching Class one so get plenty of sleep, rest and practise ready for the next couple of weeks! You have worked so incredibly hard this year and we are very proud of all your efforts!
We have daily guided reading sessions and have really enjoyed using this time to develop our knowledge of phonics by having the opportunity to read twice a week in a small supported group. The children are really enjoying this time to develop their reading skills in anticipation of the Year 1 phonics screening test. If possible please could you ensure that the children have their reading record in school so that we are able to support their learning at home and monitor home reading. This also allows us to have the opportunity to provide you with feedback about their progression in reading and to continue support at home.
Reading is an important element of learning in Class 1 and should be undertaken at least 3 times a week in order to support your child's reading development. When your child has read on fifteen separate occasions please inform us so that they are able to gain their next reading badge.
Our PE days are on a Monday and a Tuesday so please ensure that you child has their PE kits for their learning on these days and that their earrings have been taken out before entering the classroom to ensure they are able to participate. The children are continuing to work on their challenging maths passports and are working hard to progress onto their next continent. If you would like any more information about their maths passport targets and how to support them at home then please come and see me or alternatively see the link at the bottom of the class page. Additionally, please see the links at the bottom of the class page for useful links and online games to help support your child's learning.
If you have any questions about your child's learning then please do not hesitate to ask. We have an open door policy and will always be free to answer any questions or queries you may have!
