Welcome to the Class 1 home page! Class one is home to Miss Taylor and Miss Russell
Our learning journey for this term is 'Beachcombers'. We will be stepping back in time to study the life of Grace Darling and we will take a look at modern day sea rescue. We are particularly excited about this learning journey as it will include a trip to Withernsea light house. We have seen our classroom transfer into different space settings such as the new beach sound station and an exciting underwater coral reef!
Remember the phonics test is in this summer term (w.c 11th of June). Any questions on how you can further support your child please ask Miss Taylor or Miss Russell. We are doing an incredible job within class and we are approaching our learning with such a positive attitude. One that has already been seen in the brilliant results gained in our practise tests taken in the spring term- Well done Class one!
We are continuing with our daily guided reading sessions and have really enjoyed using this time to develop our knowledge of phonics and having the opportunity to read twice a week within a small adult lead group. The children are really enjoying this time to develop their reading skills. If possible could you please ensure that the children have their reading records within school so that we are able to support their learning at home. This also gives us the opportunity to provide you with feedback about their progression in reading and opportunities to continue their learning at home. Reading is an important element of learning in Class 1 and should be undertaken at home at least 4 times a week in order to support the children's reading development.
Our PE days are on a Monday and a Tuesday afternoons, so please ensure that your children have their PE kits ready for their learning on these days. Additionally as the weather is warming up we will be partaking in PE sessions outside. Therefore please ensure that children have suitable outside footwear.
The children have been working hard to achieve their next reading challenge badges throughout this term. If you would like any more information about the reading challenge and how you can support them at home then please come and see me or alternatively see the link that is attached at the bottom of the class page. Additionally, please see the links at the bottom of the page for useful links and online games to help support your child's learning.
If you have any questions about your child's learning then please do not be hesitate to ask. We have an open door policy and will always be free to answer any queries you may have!
