Welcome to FS2!
Here you will find everything you need to know about our learning in FS2.
Mrs Habershon and Mrs Sanford are your EYFS Key People. They are your first point of call if you have any questions about being a Butterfly!

This term our Learning Journey is
"Over the Rainbow"
We will be learning about Fantasy Lands through all seven areas of the curriculum as well as celebrating Pancake Day, Red Nose Day, Mother's Day and Easter! Every Monday the weekly planning is posted on the Parents’ Notice Board by the red doors. If you have any further queries about the curriculum, please speak to a member of staff.
Home Learning in FS2
Now that the children have practised listening for phonemes (single units of sound), digraphs (two letters that make one sound) and trigraphs (three letters that make one sound) in different words, we will be sending home picture cards in the ‘Sound Book’ to support the children to be able to use the sounds in their writing.
Please help your child to practise ‘sound talking’ (splitting up the sounds) in the words they are going to write!
Reading at home is an important part to ensuring your child becomes a confident reader. As such the Butterflies will be taking part in the whole school Reading Challenge! Read with your child each night and record this in their reading record book. For every 15 home reads your child completes they will be awarded with a Reading Badge in the their book. Can you collect them all?
Maths Rockstars Targets:
We will be sending home a Maths Rockstars booklet to support your child with their learning in Mathematics. The targets in the booklet are designed to develop the children’s mental maths skills which you can help them with at home. Your child will need to bring their Maths Rockstars booklet to school every day as we will be working with the children on their targets in the classroom. Please do not complete the ‘Date Achieved’ boxes on the children’s booklets as this will be filled in by school staff.
If you have any questions about the Maths Rockstars booklets, or the curriculum in general, please speak to a member of the FS Team.
Look out for your child's Spelling Shed user name and password in their Reading Record Book and let them get practising!
Holiday Homework Menu:
At the end of each term we will be sending home a Homework Menu for the children to complete during the school holidays. You and your child can choose to complete one, two or all of the tasks on the Homework Menu and bring them into school on the first day of term to show us what they have been up to!
PE in FS2
Our PE day is Thursday – please can you help your child to remember their PE kit each week and make sure that all their clothing is clearly labelled.
