Welcome to Class 2!
Welcome to the Class 2 home page. Class two is home to Miss Taylor and Mrs Leitch.
Welcome back! During this Spring term we focused on a history based learning journey and studied the Great fire of London followed by a Geography focus in Spring 2 looking at the countries of the UK. We discussed what it means to belong and continued to look into our British values.
Home learning in Class 2
During our time in Class 2 it is extremely important to ensure that our learning continues beyond the classroom. Home learning can be seen in the form of participating in the reading challenge and doing weekly home learning challenges in our home learning books.
The children will continue work hard to achieve their next reading champions badges throughout this year. If you would like any more information about the reading champions and how you can support them at home then please come and see me. Additionally, please see the links at the bottom of the page for useful links and online games to help support your child's learning. The children's reading diaries are checked on a weekly basis by an adult leading their guided reading session so it is important to ensure that these are in school at all times.
Additional class information
PE days will be on Monday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that the children have their PE kit in school all week as these days can change.
Children will continue to be offered fresh fruit during morning playtime and are able to bring their own healthy snack in accordance with our healthy school policy.
Any questions or queries please ask as we have an open door policy and will ensure that we are available to assist with any enquiries.
Thank you for your continued support and we are so looking forward to another successful and fun filled year!

Home learning support-
Year 2 maths guide for parents.
I have created a document that consists of the teaching strategies used within class to support mathematical understanding. It covers the four operations: Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Hopefully this will enable you to use the same teaching techniques at home when approaching home learning challenges as we do within the classroom. It is fully downloadable and also includes links to excellent learning websites for the children.
For further support I am going to be holding parents maths workshops on Monday evenings after school. The dates for these will be sent home in a letter. This will enable you to develop your confidence when approaching maths at home with the children and see which strategies they prefer to use.
I really do hope you find it useful
