Welcome to our Y3 class page and welcome 2022!
This term, our learning journey is How do we tell truth from tale?
As part of this learning journey, the children will be developing their historical skills through learning about the Anglo Saxons and Vikings. The children will learn about trade, farming, conflict and invasion, homes and beliefs and rituals.
In English, we are continuing to develop our use of noun phrases, adverbials and clauses. We are learning how to use subordinate clauses in our sentences and how they can change their position in a sentence. The children are applying this learning, alongside different writer techniques to write their own defeating the monster stories.
In Maths, we are learning about fractions. The children will be comparing fractions, placing them on a number line and finding fractions of amounts. We have sent out resource packs to support your child with their times tables. There is a presentation on the maths curriculum page which will show you how to use this. It is also great for the children to continue to practise recalling their times tables on Maths Shed or TTRockstars.
As Scientists, the children are now learning about light. We are exploring light sources, investigating which material are reflective and investigating how shadows are formed and how we can change their size.
In Computing, the children are learning about how to stay safe online. Last half term, the children learnt how use Scratch. You can access the programme Scratch for free by clicking on the website below.
In PE, the children will be developing their throwing and catching skills in rounders and developing their skills in tennis with Mr Smith. PE days are on Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure your child has full PE kit and that any earrings are removed.
As Musicians, the children will be appraising, learning, improvising and performing 'Bringing us together' which is a disco song about friendship, peace and unity. We will look forward to sharing our performance with you!
The children in Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed learning Spanish so far this year. During this term, the children will be learning how to name and ask for classroom equipment and foods.
We use Twitter as our way of sharing learning so if you do not follow us, please do so by adding @HillcrestAnson.
The children have already made such a positive start to the year and we thank you for your continued support. My email address is email@example.com and you are welcome to contact me if you need any thing or have anything you wish to discuss.
