Welcome to Class Four with
Our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs. Leitch and Mrs. Langley.
Welcome back after the Easter break! We hope you have all had a lovely, relaxing time and are looking forward to an action packed half term! We can’t wait to learn about the Natural Disasters. We have lots of exciting things planned to make this a memorable learning experience, beginning the term by learning about the way they lived and worked.
Please read the attached Curriculum Letter, (under the relevant learning journey) to give you a taster of the exciting elements we will be studying this half term.
Times tables are incredibly important and I would encourage you to help your child with these. We are currently working on the 4, 6, 7 and 8 times tables but the children are expected to know their tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4!
Just a reminder that our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday so can you please make sure that all children have appropriate PE kit in school on these days. It would be useful if PE kit was left in school all week in case we have to change our PE lessons for any reason. We are very lucky at the minute to have Mr Smith leading one of our PE sessions and sharing his expertise. We aim to get outside for PE where possible so if children could make sure they have appropriate kit and footwear. Also, can we please remind you to make sure that children have suitable indoor slippers or pumps to keep our school looking nice.
Year 4 children will be swimming this term, for 10 weeks from the 14th April and need to make sure they have a single piece costume for the girls and trunks or above the knee shorts for the boys. All children also need to wear a swimming cap.
Spelling investigations are given out monthly. Please can you make sure you practise spellings, accompanied by the appropriate rules, with your children throughout the week. They should also practise writing the spellings in a sentence so that they are able to apply and understand the meaning. If possible, please could you listen to your children reading for about 10 minutes each evening and write this in your child’s reading diary and return to school on a Friday to be checked by myself, Mrs. Leitch or Mrs. Langley.
If you have any questions about how you can support your child’s learning in Class 4 please come in and ask.
