Welcome to Class Four’s Page!
Here you will find out about what we are learning and useful links to help carry on this learning at home!
Mrs Cawkwell, Mrs Gorecki and Mrs Baker have been so impressed with how Class Four approach their learning.
Since Christmas, our Learning Journey has been given the title
'What does it mean to belong?'
This has included learning all about our local area and conducting field work in Geography, using the local landscape as a key driver for Art and beginning a project for the new Gulliver's theme park in DT. We have also used Harry Potter as a novel study in our English learning which has just been AMAZING!
Times tables are incredibly important and we would encourage you to help your child recall them. We are currently working on the 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 times tables but the children are expected to know their tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4 and will be the first year to be tested nationally.
Please follow the link to Times Tables Rock Stars and keep a look out for inter-class Battle of the Bands competitions.
We have attached a document below which contains information about the Multiplication screen.
Just a reminder that our PE days are Thursdays and Fridays, so can you please make sure that all children have appropriate PE kit in school on these days - Thursday being our swimming day. It would be useful if PE kit was left in school all week in case we have to change our PE lessons for any reason.
We are very lucky at the minute to have a dance teacher leading one of our PE sessions and sharing her expertise.
We usually aim to get outside for PE where possible so if children could make sure they have appropriate kit and footwear. Also, can we please remind you to make sure that children have suitable indoor slippers or pumps to keep our school looking nice.
SpellingShed and MathsShed are now active and all children have their logins.
Each half term the children will be set a homework project linked to our learning journey.
Well done for being so creative with last half terms projects. We've enjoyed sharing them with each other.
If possible, please listen to your children read for about 10 minutes each evening and write this in your child’s reading record. In order to achieve the badges and become a reading champion, reading record books need to be signed and returned to school each day to be checked.
Children continue to have the opportunity to choose books from the 'Recommended Reads.' These books can be enjoyed independently or shared with an adult.
If you have any questions about how you can support your child’s learning in Class 4 please come in and ask one of the team.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Cawkwell and Mrs Gorecki
