This term our Learning Journey is:
Who is King of the Jungle?
We will be kicking off our learning journey with our visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park on the 6th May. We will be learning about animals and their habitats. As Scientists we will be learning about life cycles as we are lucky enough to have some eggs to observe to hatch into chicks. We will be learning about plants and growing and how animals survive in the Jungle. As Artists we will be taking part in Picture This, we will be doing some sewing, weaving and painting to create a jungle scene.
Also this half term we have our Jubilee Celebrations on Friday 27th May. Children are invited to come in red, white and blue or their best garden party outfits. We will also be having our sponsored bounce on this day. Towards the end of term we will be having our school Sports Day. Date TBC.
Home Learning in FS2
Reading at home is an important part to ensuring your child becomes a confident reader. As such we want all the Butterflies to become Reading Champions by reading at home every day!
Read with your child each night and record this in their reading record book. For every 15 home reads your child completes they will be awarded with a Reading Badge in the their book. Can you collect them all?
Spelling Shed and Maths Shed
Look out for your child's Spelling Shed/Maths Shed username and password in their Reading Record Book and let them get practising!
PE in FS2
Our PE day is Wednesday - please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on a Monday and is taken home every Friday in case it is needed on a different day.
Please also ensure that long hair is tied back and earrings are removed on PE day.
Here are some useful websites that will support you with learning at home. Please do not feel any pressure to complete a certain number of tasks each day or to stick to a rigid learning routine. Remember, at school your children learn through a mixture of adult led and child initiated activities so while they spend some of their day sitting with a grown up to focus on a specific area of the curriculum, they also have lots of opportunities to learn through their play in our provision.
For our FS children playing is learning!
