The new Relationship and Sex Education guidance comes into force in September 2020.
You cannot withdraw your child from Relationships Education because it is important that all children receive this content, covering topics such as friendships and how to stay safe. At Anston Hillcrest we have chosen to also teach Sex Education. If you’d like to know more about this, we recommend speaking to the class teacher about what will be taught and when.
During the summer term we will invite you in (parents of children in Class 6) to discuss the resources we will show your children and how Sex Education will be taught.
If you do not want your child to take part in some or all of the lessons on Sex Education, you can ask that they are withdrawn. At primary level, the head teacher must grant this request.
We will send a refusal slip out - we will assume that unless we have written refusal, that all children will be taught Sex Education.
