Y2 - Mr Bishop (Spiders)

Summer Term

We can't believe it is the summer term already! This year is flying by!

This term, our learning journey is 'Can one person make a difference?'

We will begin by comparing the amenities in both South Anston and Cleethorpes. Then, we will focus on our history skills and compare holidays in the past with holidays now. As a significant person in History, we will also learn about Grace Darling and the impact she made.

In art, we will be developing our skills in clay to represent water.

We will be writing a range of texts in English including writing a story based on The Storm Whale as well as a biography of Grace Darling.

In Maths, we will continue learning about measuring and shapes.

In Science, we will learn all about plants: naming the parts, knowing the conditions they need to survive and the lifecycle of flowering plant.

Class 2 will also be sitting their Y2 SATs in May.

As the weather becomes warmer, we will be doing PE outside as much as possible. Please ensure your child has appropriate kit and a change of shoes.

As always, if you do have any questions about your child's learning or ways to support them, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Year 2 Spring Term

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing Christmas break and are refreshed and ready for 2022!

This term, our Learning Journey is called 'Can we make a difference?' and will focus on endangered animals.

As part of our English learning, we are going to write our own versions of 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' starring endangered creatures as well as writing persuasive pieces to encourage others to protect these species. Our Geography learning is focused on developing our fieldwork skills in the local area. As Scientists, we will deepen our understanding of habitats and how animals are able to survive in extreme places. In Art, we will develop our shading and blending skills as we draw some endangered creatures.

Please continue to read at home regularly with your child and complete their Reading Record book. Games are also regularly set on Spelling Shed and Maths Shed for your child to practise the spelling rules and Maths facts we have been learning in class.

This term, our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure you child has a PE kit in school all week just in case this has to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you have any questions about your child's learning or how to support them at home, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Welcome to Class 2!

Welcome to Class 2!

This year, Mrs Armstrong will be your teacher and Mrs Gorecki is our LSA.

In the Autumn Term, our learning journey will be 'The UK and The Great Fire of London 'We will be learning all about the human and physical geography of the UK and the Great Fire of London.

Our PE days will be <to be confirmed>, but remember to bring your PE kit into school on a Monday and leave it all week. This makes it much easier if we do PE on a different day for any reason!

This year, we will be continuing with Reading Champions. If you read at home (and get this signed into your reading record) 15 times, you will earn your first badge. Remember to bring your reading record and your reading book into school every day.

Your Times Tables Rockstars and Spelling/Maths Shed log in details  will not change from last year. If you need reminding of them, they will be inside your reading record. If you need this information again, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I'm really excited about our year together in Class 2!
