The Centipedes have settled into Year 5 really well. Myself and Mrs Beeley  have already been blown away by how mature and hard working the children have been. I love seeing their smiley faces each morning!

Welcome to the Autumn term of Year 5!

Our learning journey for the Autumn Term is about the Battle of Britain!  In Maths, we are following the Whiterose Maths scheme and have just finished our first unit on place value. We are now moving on to addition and subtraction! In Science we are investigating forces which so far the children have loved. We will be looking closely at the life cycles of animals and plants!

A huge thank you to the parents too who have supported myself and the children transitioning into year 5! 

Our PE days are Fridays. Our PE lessons in the Autumn term will be outside where possible, so please ensure your children have appropriate kit and footwear. 

How Can I Support My Child At Home?
SpellingShed, MathsShed and Times Tables RockStars are very important and should be practised daily. All children have their own log ins and can access exciting new challenges each week.

Reading is exceptionally important and the minimum expectation is that each child reads to their grown-up at least three times per week. Please sign and date when your child has read in your new learning logs so we can monitor how much they are reading and also ensure they are progressing in the challenge. 

If you have any questions about how you can support your child’s learning in Class 5 please come in and ask. We'll all do our best to accommodate.
