Welcome to Class 4

We are very much looking forward to the start of our first term in September. This class page will provide information about the areas of learning we will be covering, as well as suggestions on how you can support your child at home. Examples of the children’s work will also be shared on the class blog further down the page. Should you wish to discuss anything or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Baker on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Divit for the remainder of the week.

This year we will be continuing our work on mastering our times table facts ready for the multiplication check in the summer term.  Please ensure your child is practising regularly to help with their quick recall of facts.  Please ensure that full PE kits are sent in on a Monday.  We will be teaching new spelling rules on a Monday, which will be tested the following Monday.  As always please ensure your child learns the spellings for the rule ready for their test each week.

We will be continuing the high expectations set in Year 3 so that all member of our class achieve their very best.  To support your child, please ensuring they are reading at least four times per week.  Studies have consistently shown a link between reading for pleasure regularly and academic success. Children who read for enjoyment every day not only usually perform better in tests, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge, and a better understanding of other cultures!  Mrs Divit has brought along her rather vast collection of books which the children are welcome to borrow weekly.  Children should return their reading books to swap each week, but do not need to bring them in each day.  A selection of books will be provided for quiet reading in class to help expose children to a range of authors and genres.

As before, children are expected to line up at 8:40am ready for learning when the bell goes at 8:45am.  One of us will be out at 8:40am should you wish to pass on a brief message; however, please email school if you require a longer conversation.
