Our Goals
At Anston Hillcrest, through our Learning Means the World Curriculum, we aim to nurture each child's geographical knowledge, curiosity, and understanding of the world. Our structured curriculum is designed to equip children with the skills to make informed geographical inquiries, critically evaluate environmental issues, and explore the relationship between people and places with growing independence.

Why?

Enhancing children’s geographical knowledge, curiosity, and appreciation for the world around them through a structured curriculum not only enriches their educational experience but also equips them with essential skills for success both in school and beyond. Developing a global awareness and sense of responsibility is vital to children's holistic development, and our geography curriculum provides the foundation for this growth.

Adaptations

Our geography curriculum for disadvantaged children, including those with SEND is adapted, where necessary through the use of tactile maps, 3D models, and enlarged visual aids to support understanding for children who might need these adaptations.
Sensory activities like handling natural materials (e.g., sand, rocks, and leaves) help engage children. Simplified language, visual timetables, and interactive activities ensure that all children can explore geographical concepts effectively.
